Bridal make-up, interview of Marlène Bérard.

Livecoiffure : What training do you need to be specialized in bridal make-up?

Marlène Bérard :  Bridal make-up is taught in every make-up school. I wanted to become a make-up specialist so I decided to enter the school Make up for ever academy in Paris. In order to meet expectations, I learned the cultural special features of the Western, Eastern and Asian bridal make-up. This way, I can do any type of bridal make-up.

Livecoiffure : Could you explain what is the “technical” between a hen party make-up and a bridal make-up?

Marlène Bérard : The hen party make-up depends on the client’s desires. It can be simple or sophisticated. The bridal make-up can also vary. It is the client who decides according to her desires. However, you can find some similarities: the respect of the bride style (her dress, her hair, her culture...) and the harmony with her bouquet, her accessories and a potential theme.

The bridal make-up aims to highlight the eyes and the lips in order to obtain a natural sophisticated effect. This is very technical because the result must be beautiful and natural. The use of waterproof quality products guarantees a long duration of the make-up.
 

Livecoiffure : How are the make-up sessions going for the future brides?

Marlène Bérard : First, we generally have a session for the makeup trial. During this session, I try to understand the universe of my client so the make-up fits her daily life, her personality, her extravagant or classic style. I also take into account the dress, the event, the place of the wedding party, the season and her bridal hairstyle. All of that must be taken into account to obtain a beautiful well matched make-up. When the day comes, I receive her, I put make-up on her... and the charm works! Sometimes, during the wedding day, I receive also the bridegroom if he wants me to work on his complexion and make his face look good.

Livecoiffure : Are there packages combining the bridal make-up and hairstyle?

Marlène Bérard : There are different make-up and hairstyle packages. It depends if the client wants a make-up and a hairstyle trial but also if she wants the session to be at home or in our salon in Ardon the day of her wedding. We also propose packages for the maids of honour or the guests.
