  • Jean Doucet collection : When hairdressing meets Haute Couture.

  • During the Haute Couture Spring/ Summer 2013 week, the fashion designer Jean Doucet presented his new collection in the Châtelet theatre. He was inspired by his meeting with the ballet dancer Irina Kolesnikova, who is the soloist of  Konstantin Tatchkine's Saint Petersburg ballet theatre.
When Jean Doucet was invited by Stella Kalinina, the Cultural association Stella Art International vice president, to see the representation of " le Lac des Cygnes " in Palais des Congrès in Paris ; that's when the magic happened : he was touched and lost in admiration at the ballet dancer. Between the fashion world and the ballet world there is only...A pas de deux ! "I was inspired by Irina, and so I created a new collection which keywords are like the muse synonyms  : pure, high style, subtlety, and sobriety. I presented pure line shaped dresses. As I'm very meticulous, the size are marked and the shoulders are structured. This season is characterized by transparency, I used lace, because of its delicacy, muslin and silk crepe because of their lightness and fluidity. Everything is in powdered colours enhanced by a gold touch.  I decided to dress Irina with an evening dress made of silk tulle for her first appearance on the catwalk and with a wedding dress made of lace and silk organza for the second". Jean Doucet Jérôme Guezou et Rebecca Ayoko The spectators were not only mesmerized by the creations but they were hypnotized by the ballet dancer's presence and unusual personality. We are used to see models who don't have any expression on their face. However, we've noticed the presence of an outstanding woman,  Rebecca Ayoko, who was the first black model to catwalk for Yves Saint Laurent in the middle of the 1980's.  A book about her fascinating history was published in 2012 : Quand les étoiles deviennent noires, Rebecca Ayoko, Carol Mann - Jean-Claude Gawsewitch ".   To perfect the twelve muses' look, Jean Doucet called in Serge Lutens' brand to perfume and to make up the " show - ballet ". Jérôme Guézou, hairdresser ambassador for L’Oréal Professionnel, his friend for twenty years now, took care of the hairstyles with the help of Sébastien Bafcop, hairdresser ID artist. The two partners are the head of the parisian salon Angel Studio.     The night ended with a drink, we tasted the new rosé Champagne  " Dentelle "  by Doucet – Champagne from Saint Gall...or should I say, we savoured it.   Christine Margossian for LiveCoiffure.com Photographer David Poirot ©Livecoiffure     Jean DOUCET - COUTURE PARIS
