Among the questions which worry an artisan or a trader, one is the winner: redoing the business. Because the financial commitment resulting from that decision must be considered before starting anything.

    [color color="#e03512"]WHY REDOING YOUR BUSINEES:

The first reason is that between two establishments, the client will often choose the most luminous, the cleanest and the most pleasant one.
This is particularly true for some of the fields like fashion or beauty/esthetics. Indeed, the consumer will get an idea an idea about the quality of the service depending of what they can see from the outside.
Of course, everybody knows that the beauty of a place is not the only element at stake regarding the satisfaction and the loyalty of a client. The quality of the service, the kindness of the staff, the general ambiance of the place, the cleanliness and the gratitude of the client will be the main elements to make them come back. Whether you like it or not, we are in the design and decoration age and the clients love beauty.
Other factors can justify the need of redoing your business:
    • The salon up to standards: Electricity, ventilation/airing, air conditioning, security, etc. Be careful, the dilapidation of an establishment is not the only explanation; the regulations imposed by the authorities evolve sometimes very fast and impose to redo some of the parts of an establishment from day to day even if there is time extensions for compliance.

    • The need of relaunching a business especially when the competition has become severe.

    • Anticipating the apparition of a new competitor in order to avoid being out of date and to limit the curiosity of your own clients.

    • Remotivating your team; the salon is a business place but it is also a working and living place for your colleagues. Redoing your business means boosting everybody and getting out of the "boring" everyday life...

    • Reinvesting when the business is working well.

    [color color="#e03512"]WHEN REDOING YOUR BUSINESS:

In general, you will have to wait the end of the amortization period, unless special emergency ( important damage, anticipation of the arrival of new competitor or subscription to a franchised group ).
This doesn't mean you have to redo your business at the anniversary date of the end of the amortization period but if the business is working, making this investment is a good way to boost the business and to protect yourself against the competition.

    [color color="#e03512"]HOW REDOING YOUR BUSINESS:

The question is not about the concept, the taste and colors; you must know what kind of values you want to show.
However, it is important to take into consideration some priorities:
    • Even if it means redoing a business, you should learn from your past mistakes. Indeed, perfection doesn't exist and you may sometimes notice that some of the aspects are not so perfect. You should then improve these points, they will be an additional advantage to be even better.

    • Working on the light of the place It cannot be often repeated often enough, the quality of the lighting is essential, both inside and outside of the establishment. More outside lighting sill be efficient, the more visible your business will be, the more clients will be attracted by it and will enter. The more optimized the inside lighting is, the more the client will be seduced.
    • Don't neglect your shop window: It seduces the client.

    • Work on the place ergonomics. The more refined is the ergonomics, the more efficient will the work and the more pleasant will be the experience of the client during their visit.Colleagues who work under good conditions are productive colleagues. In a salon, for example, think about those important details, like the hair cupboard which must be in a very accessible place that way you avoid having hair everywhere: So don't put the hair cupboard in the end of the salon !

    • Work on the " client's path". Yes, you must think about the practical aspect for the client but also what can boost your turnover during their visit. The location of the sale area for example will be important in order to stimulate the purchase impulsion of the client.
In a hairdressing salon, the comfort of the hair basin is essential but the orientation of the latter is of the same importance and must avoid to expose the legs of the clients in plain view. Everything must be done so that the client feels relaxed as soon as they enter in the salon and so that they can consume even more. Other details will make the difference: The music, the internet access, video screens, but you must remember to change their content so you don't get into the groove.

    • E Finally, take into account that a client get used to a place very fast. It is then very important to imagine some details which will give the impression to the clients that something "changed". For example, some zones will be refitted so that every year you can add a slight cheap modification which will give an impression of change, evolution, something new ( a wall section in another color, a cash register with a different style or even retro mirrors lightened by different colors...)
Of course, you can't do always what you like. Sometimes, the funds are missing to redo totally a business so you can redo just a part of the latter. This will be always a better idea than doing nothing but be careful, sometimes redoing a part of a place can highlight even more the defects !
In any event, you must rely on professionals because they will give you precious advice and propose you many possibilities adapted to your desires, your business and your budget.
    Good business !
