  • About the Francesco SMALTO label

The 66th Cannes Film Festival has provided the House of Francesco Smalto with a perfect opportunity to share its appreciation for the art of film.

Francesco Smalto has been linked with cinema from the very start of the company and now proudly presents “L’Observatoire”, a highly exclusive 180m2, overlooking the Palais des Festivals.

This is nothing other than the transformation of the first floor of the Francesco Smalto store into a most unusual spot for the duration of the festival. A cabinet of wonders, a personal advice area, grooming, a pop-up store, and a speak-easy bar – L’Observatoire brings together stars of film and fashion in an intimate and cosy environment.

SMALTO is a French label making bespoke and luxury ready-to-wear clothes for men. It was founded in 1962 in Paris by Francesco Smalto.

For more than 50 years now, with its Parisian workshop of some 30 craftsmen and Master Tailors, the label has been perpetuating the bespoke tradition. In 2012, it published a birthday book: “Francesco SMALTO – 5O years of masculine elegance” and the House was awarded a “company of living heritage” award by the French state.

Smalto’s collections are now available through 210 points of sale worldwide and via their website www.smalto.com

We also noticed that as well as the House of Smalto, the French luxury jewellery designer Edouard Nahum has also called on one of its charismatic and glamorous ambassadors whose emblematic, mysterious and captivating looks match the precious jewels: the actor Gary Dourdan, best known for portraying Warrick Brown in the CSI series.

The campaign launch coincided with the Cannes Film Festival and the visuals will be widely on display at several events, notably the Edouard Nahum jewellery exhibition at the Carlton Hotel.
