  • Upgraded hairdressing salons for the disabled

  • The establishments designed to receive people, like the hairdressing salons, must be updated in order to be accessible for disabled people. This regulation entered into force on 01 January 2015. What about the respect of that regulation ?

    Christine Margossian

  • The implementation of that regulation on the access was delayed by two years for the businesses. This means that your work plan for an updated salon must be validated and programmed right now ! L’agenda d’accessibilité programmé (agenda for a programmed access) must be sent until 27 September at the latest. The rule stipulates a high penalty when the regulation is not respected : Several hundreds of thousands of Euros and risk of closure in case of recidivism.

These updates go even further in some of the cases with the creation of designs completely designed for the reception of disabled people. It is obvious that being styled when you are in a wheelchair is not easy especially for the shampoo steps for example. That way a hairdressing salon concept was born : Atout Age. It receives the people of reduced mobility, aged or disabled. This concept can also be implemented within the specialized establishment and the hospitals.

The organization and ergonomics of these salons are studied again. For example : The hairstyle table is raised to integrate a wheelchair, the shampoo basins, hair driers can be moved around the person. Even the work of the hairdresser is easier as they are subject to risks of diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

This innovation stimulates the hairdressing salons to integrate that kind of problematic in their organization and a website Mon coiffeur s'engage is online. This initiative is supported by the hairdressing institutions and by the group AG2R La Mondiale. A virtual visit is offered online (link below)?
